Social media sharing is the most important thing whether you are a blogger, Youtuber, entrepreneur or business owner.
You must know the power of social media.
Social media sharing is very necessary to spread your stuff/thing,
But many people don’t know the techniques for social media sharing.
As you are my reader, I will tell you 3 simple & quick ways to boost your social media sharing of your content.
According to the recent report from Buzzsumo, the average of content on social media sharing networks has decreased.
This is due to competition.
There is so much content on the internet.
Around 80 million posts on the WordPress.com are published every month.
Self-hosted sites on WordPress are not counted in this report.
There is 1 other factor for this decline is that social networks like Facebook are limiting the reach of pages.
Facebook’s new algorithm gives preference to posts over pages in the newsfeed as their research also found that users want this.
When company pages share the posts fewer people see the post.
You need to proactively deliver strategies that will force people to share your articles as much as possible.
Just adding share buttons on your blog or website and sharing it via your pages won’t help you to fight the competition and decreasing social media engagement.
Therefore, to help you get the best & powerful results in less time.
I will share the top 3 tips & strategies to increase social media sharing of your content…
Social Media Sharing Tips & Strategies:
1. Write the best content To Increase Social Media Sharing :
As mentioned, a lot of content is being published.
If you want to stand out from the audience, then just creating good content is no longer enough.
Your content must be the best!
People will only share your content if they think your content is awesome.
So, here are some tips to create awesome content…
Write longer posts:
According to the study of Buzzsumo and OkDork analyzed that over 1 million blog posts found that longer posts are shared the most.
As you can see in the above graph, posts between 0 and 1000 words get the least shares, as the length of posts increases, they achieve more shares.
According to Orbit Media’s survey report, most bloggers write posts that are between 500 and 1000 words.
So, to fight with them, you have write posts that are more than 1,500 words.
Very less percentage of people write longer posts.
If you have a dedicated content team then you must produce 2-3posts of this length every week.
But if you don’t have much money to make team then you can write just one blog post that is 1,500+ words every week or once every two weeks.
1 more benefit of writing longer posts is that they rank higher in search engines.
Posts which are on the first page of Google have an average word count of 1,890 words.
And before writing a long blog post, do some thorough keyword research and strategically use these terms naturally in your post.

You can also check your website’s keyword ranking in Google with some best tools.
The study mentioned below from Buzzsumo also found that posts with at least one image get more shares on Facebook and on Twitter.
So, don’t forget to include images in your posts.
These can be graphs, videos, photos and real reports.
But if you want to gain traffic from a specific social network then you must optimize your post keeping that social network’s image preferences in mind.
For e.g., if you want to optimize it for Facebook then you should add an image of 560 X 292 pixels.
After that, you have to set the page/post to pick the image when you share.
You can do this with SEO plugin called Yoast.
Now just scroll down to the Yoast SEO settings and click the share option.
Here you can upload the image.
You can even set a different Facebook title and description if you don’t want the meta title and description to be shared.
And you can also set it to pick a default image if you are using an advanced social sharing plugin like Social Snap.
As you can see it has a beautiful cover image at the top.
Look what will happens when I will click the share button.
The same image appears on the Facebook page thumbnail as it was not only optimized for Facebook.
But it will be picked automatically when you click share button.
If you don’t optimize your post this way, Facebook might pick another image that is less attractive and won’t drive the same traffic.
Scroll down to the bottom of this page.
It has a bigger image with the same design style present.
It is automatically picked when you click to pin.
This way using the same design you used for your Facebook page to quickly design a Pinterest optimized image is something you must do as well.
That’s why after Facebook, Pinterest drives the second highest number of social media referrals.
It defeats other popular social media sites like Instagram, Twitter and Reddit.
For the best results make sure your image should be optimized in 600 X 900 pixels.
Publish original research:
Original researched content may bring a lot of traffic and social shares. Because this content is unique, more people will read and share it.
If you are a marketer at SaaS product, you can find out the questions which your audience wants to answer and then provide solutions to them with unique data.
This is an Instagram marketing tool, so they analyzed over 8,000,000 images and figured out images with which characteristics get the most likes.
Back sometime when people shared Instagram tips, they just wrote about the usual stuff, but this Infographic had some unique information so found amazing informative.
If you haven’t got data like this yet, you can find it by conducting a survey like Orbit Media did for their (mentioned above ) Blogging Statistics and Trends Survey.
Around 1377 bloggers took part in the survey.
2. Get help from the right influencers- Increase Social Media Sharing:
If you want to get more post shares on social media then you really have to convince the right influencers/audience to share it.
Of course, sharing content on your social media will help you a little bit.
But if you are sharing with wrong audience then it will be of no use.
So you must share in an authoritative, relevant influencer with lots of engaged followers.
While reaching to influencers, the mistake most people make is contacting strangers and asking them for a favour.
Instead of that you should contact influencers to whom you know.
As they know you, they will be more comfortable and likely to share your content.
There is a great technique to start with is employee advocacy.
This is a sharing strategy in which you provide your employees with suggested content to share.
As you already know them, they will be more interested in sharing.
In fact, 50% of employees post content on social media about their employers.
If you have a strategy then provide the right content to your employees , you should be able to drive a lot of shares and traffic.
You can use a tool which is an employee advocacy like Smarp.
Your employees will be able to see your updates on the Smarp website or on the app.
They can then directly share it, or schedule, on to social media like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin etc.
The average of “friends/followers” of employees is 470 friends on Facebook, 370 Twitter followers and 348 Linkedin connections, according to Smarp’s research.
So, the shares from your employees will help your content to reach a lot of people.
Especially on Facebook.
Because, as I mentioned earlier, facebook’s algorithm now gives priority to posts from people over pages.
As your employees will share your content and with that they will also develop their brand and attract the right followers.
This will be beneficial for you in the long race.
While executing employee advocacy, essentially developing your team of in-house influencers, you should build mutually beneficial relationships with externals influencers too.
So, search for influencers on the internet and share their posts, feature them in your site and then inform them about it.
To find the influencers you can use a tool like Epicbeat.
Here you can search for any keywords and it will find popular content published on that topic.
Click on ‘View Sharers in the Last 7 Days then it will show you all the people who shared the content in that period.
Go through all these sharers and make a list of the name of people who shared then make another list of their social media accounts, their website addresses on a spreadsheet.
Now, make a contact to them through email, as you can send a detailed message.
You should be able to find their email address on their website or by using any outreach tool.
If you can’t find their email address then you can send them a message on their social media account.
For awesome results, target smaller influencers.
As the top ones are usually tired due to requests every day and may not able to share your content.
It will be easier to make a relationship with small influencers as they have less requests for sharing the content.
As you have requested a favour to them, they will be more likely to help you back in the future too.
Both of you can help each other grow your business.
This method of making a relationship with influencers might take a lot of time in the starting, but it is long lasting and more effective.
Note: You should help influencers if you wish to help.
Don’t get upset if they don’t help you in exchange.
There could be many reasons that why they don’t want to share your content.
3. Optimize content for social media sharing:
Now the best part is here.
Once both internal and external influencers start sharing your content then you will start to see some rise in traffic and engagement.
To get the maximum results for this then you have to optimize your content for sharing as well.
As these new visitors will start sharing your content with their followers and the cycle will repeat and you will gain more traffic and engagement.
Your primary goal will be different, depending on your blog and business goals.
You probably want to generate more leads and sales instead of just driving more shares and traffic.
But as this post is focused on more traffic via sharing.
Here are a couple of techniques which you can use to get visitors who will share your content…
Include a few Social Media sharing buttons only:
Many people think that if they place many share buttons on their website/blog then they will get more shares.
And it is one of the biggest mistakes they make.
This can actually reduce the chances of sharing because of too many choices can confuse readers.
It is somewhere similar to the supermarket jam experiment, where a lot of samples lead to fewer sales.
Therefore, you should first analyze the data, which social media drives more traffic to your website.
Then place the share buttons on your website based on the results.
You can see an example on Upworthy, where they have only placed “Facebook and Twitter”.
This assures that they get the maximum shares from these two networks.
Place Social Media sharing buttons in the middle of the post:
Another cool technique that works, place share buttons in the middle of the post, not at the beginning or at the end.
Some blogs like Coschedule has already done this with Twitter.
They have placed a ‘Click to Tweet’ box with the exact message that will be Tweeted.
If you click the Tweet button you will be able to share it on Twitter.
You can place click to tweet if you use Social warfare WordPress plugin.
There is a free alternative called better click to tweet that you can use.
It works well when you make it easy for people to share statistics as mentioned above in the picture.
Use these Techniques to increase social media sharing of your content…
Content marketing has become extremely competitive now.
Therefore, if you want to stand out from the public and get more shares and traffic from social media.
You should make a stronger effort to inspire the audience to share your content with their followers.
As shown above, this should include better content and spending a lot of time promoting it with the influencers.
